Appy VI Campaign FAQ

Q: When will the Appy VI be in the water?

A: We expect the new launch will be delivered and launched on Lake Winnipesaukee in May, 2024.

Q: How much funding is needed?

A: The committee has raised $507,000. Our goal is $550,000. The camp is not contributing anything to this project. It is all camper and donor dollars!

Q: By when is the money needed? What urgency is there for a donor to give now?

A: The boat is being finished this winter with delivery this spring. We need the money now to pay the boat builders.

Q: I want to contribute to TMI's future. What is the expected life of the Appy VI and how do annual operating costs compare with the old Appy?

A: The boat is designed to be used for 50 years. Operating costs are expected to be much lower than the cost for a gas-powered boat.

Q: Will the new electric Appy cost less to operate?

A: Overall we estimate the operating costs will be reduced by over $3,000 per year.  Costs for fuel, which will be electric rather than gas, will be reduced by approximately 90%.

Q: How long will it take to charge the new Appy, and how many trips will a full charge allow?

A: A full charge from zero will take about 4.85 hours. Each full charge will allow 6-8 round trips from the island to the public dock at Goodhue Boat Company.

Q: Can the AMC accept gifts of appreciated securities?

A: Absolutely. If you're interested in making a contribution of stock, download the AMC stock transfer instructions and alert the development office of your gift. You can reach them at AMCDevelopment@outdoors.org, and here are AMC's stock transfer instructions

Q: Can the AMC receive gifts directly from retirement funds for those donors needing to meet the minimum distribution?

A: Any funding source is welcome!  Again, reach out to AMCDevelopment@outdoors.com if you need guidance.
